The Orthopaedic department was one of the foremost departments in Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja created then under Surgery department during the commencement of Residency Training Program in 2012. The Orthopeadic department utilizes three Wards viz Orthopaedic, Male Surgical and Female Surgical Wards with a total of sixty-five (64) bed spaces into which patients are admitted for in-patient care. The Wards are serene, equipped with modern beds, constant power and water supply, good toilet facility for convenience of patients.

The Orthopaedic department has five (5) Consultants with sub-specializations in Arthroplasty, limb reconstruction and Spine Surgery. The department also has senior registrars, Residents, Medical Officers, Interns, Orthotists, Plaster Technicians.
