- Securing of one 500/33Kva and one 300/33Kva transformers to boost power supply in the hospital
- Sinking of one industrial bore to improve water supply in the hospital
- Payment of outstanding training and other allowances from 2008 to Dec. 2016.
- Increase in number of nurses in directorate cadre from 1 to 17.
- Increase in funding and training of staff members.
- Creation of units like Legal unit, Clinical psychology and even Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW), and Orthotist & Prosthetist.
- Introduction of town-hall meetings between the management and various cadre of Staff.
- Departmentalization of the Laboratory Medicine departments into Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Microbiology and Histopathology departments for ease of management.
- Introduction of radio health talk show - Saturday.
Problems and Limitations
- Inadequate manpower to cope with ever increasing patient load and referrals, worsen by retirement, resignation and brain drain. Last general staff recruitment was in 2017.
- Non-availability of high-tech equipment like CT scanner machine, as we receive trauma and head injured patients daily that often require such investigation services. The hospital has a neurosurgeon, the only one in Kogi State. No CT scan in Kogi presently.
- Absence of dedicated Psychiatry and Rehabilitation department. Our psychiatric department has two consultants, the only one of such in Kogi State.
